STA-5 Stormwater Treatment Area 5/Clewiston/Glades County. Meet at the entrance gate to Stormwater Treatment Area 5 (STA-5). From I-75, Exit 141, drive east on SR 80 through Clewiston to CR 835. Turn right and follow CR 835 south to Blumberg Rd. Alternatively, from Immokalee, drive east on CR 846 to CR 833 to CR 835 to Blumberg Rd. Take Blumberg Rd to the entrance of STA-5. We will not have lunch as a group on this car trip around the treatment ponds, but bring snacks and plenty of water to enjoy as we bird from the levee. Bring spotting scopes and walkie-talkies if you have them and a small donation ($2) for Hendry-Glades Audubon. A Port-o-let is on site at the entrance. Participation is limited for this trip, so sign-ups will be taken at prior club meetings. All participants must sign a liability release form.

Bird Rookery Swamp is a CREW Trust property located just south of Corkscrew Swamp off Shady Hollow Blvd in Collier County. From the intersection of I-75 and Immokalee Rd, Exit 111, drive east 11.4 miles to Shady Hollow Blvd. Turn left and drive west 1.5 mile to the parking area on the right. No restrooms.

Pine Island preserves/Pine Island/Lee County. Meet at the west side of the Publix parking lot on the northeast corner of Burnt Store Rd (CR 765) and Pine Island Rd (SR 78) in Cape Coral. From Ft Myers, take Colonial Pkwy (CR 884) west over Midpoint Memorial Bridge (pay $2.00 toll). The road is called Veteran’s Pkwy in Cape Coral. Continue on Veteran's Pkwy about 8 miles to Pine Island Rd. Cross Pine Island Rd and turn right into the Publix shopping center. We will arrange carpools and leave the parking lot through the exit on Pine Island Rd. Restrooms available in the Publix.

Harns Marsh Preserve/ Lehigh Acres/Lee County. From I-75, Exit 136, (CR 884), drive east on Colonial Ext/ Lee Blvd to Sunshine Blvd in Lehigh Acres. Turn left on Sunshine Blvd and drive north past the Able Canal. Just beyond the canal, the road curves and 31st St is on the left. Turn left on 31st and make an immediate right onto Ruth Ave. Drive north on Ruth Ave to 38th St. Turn left on 38th and drive to the parking area at the end of the road. No restrooms.

Circle B Bar Reserve, Polk County

Meet in the Circle B Bar Reserve Discovery Center parking lot. An overnight stay in Bartow on Sunday, Jan. 15 is advised. A block of 10 rooms has been reserved for members. Contact the trip leader for hotel block code and to sign up for the trip. Last day to sign up or drop out is January 9.

Directions to Bartow: There are several different routes to Bartow. The quickest way to get there is to take US 17 through Arcadia/Zolfo Springs/Wauchula/Ft Meade. In Bartow, follow signs to SR 35/SR 700/US 98 North (Broadway Ave). Turn right on Broadway. Holiday Inn Express will be on the left. Continue on US 98 to the reserve using the directions below.

Directions to Circle B Bar Preserve: 4399 Winter Lake Rd, Lakeland FL 33803. From Holiday Inn Express in Bartow, turn left and head north on US 98 (Broadway Ave). You will pass by a couple of roads tagged SR 540, but continue to drive about 7 miles to SR 540 East (Winter Lake Rd). Turn right and head east about 2 miles to the entrance on the right. Drive to the parking area near the Discovery Center at the end of the road.

St Mark’s National Wildlife Refuge/Wakulla County.
This field trip to northern Florida requires a two-night stay at the historic Wakulla Springs Lodge located in Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park south of Tallahassee. Participants will drive to the lodge on Sunday, Feb. 19, enjoy a full day of birding in St Mark’s National Wildlife Refuge on Monday, Feb. 20, and return to Ft. Myers on Tuesday, Feb. 21. A block of rooms has been reserved for members. Contact P. Gladstone for block code and trip details. Last day to sign up or drop out of this trip is Feb.12.

Ding Darling NWR/ Sanibel Island. Meet in the auxiliary parking lot at the Ding Darling Visitor’s Center. From the toll station on the Sanibel Causeway ($6 toll), go over the causeway and turn right on Periwinkle Way. Continue on about 2 ½ miles to Tarpon Bay Rd. Turn right and drive to Sanibel Captiva Rd. Turn left. The entrance is 2 miles west of Tarpon Bay Rd on Sanibel Captiva Rd.

AM 		Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve/Ft Myers. Meet in parking lot at the slough. From the intersection of Daniels Pkwy (CR 876) and Six Mile Cypress Pkwy (CR 865), drive north about a mile to Penzance Blvd. The entrance to the slough is on the right. This is a Lee County Park and there is a parking fee of $1.00/hour for a maximum of $5.00 per day. County and volunteer stickers work as well.
