Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge Results Are Posted

Results from the Ding Darling NWR trip on February 8, 2011 are posted. The highlight of this trip was the honor of having Lillian and Don Stokes of Stokes Birding fame accompany us for part of the trip.  Several of us had the good fortune too see both a juvenile Yellow-crowned Night Heron and a juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron nearly side by side.  To the untrained eye, these two birds appeared identical. Lillian painstakingly pointed out the identifying features of the two birds that made identifying them a whole lot easier.

We all got a chance to see their new field guide which has thousands of pictures of the birds.  While observing the beautiful Roseate Spoonbills at the Refuge, Lillian show us the pictures in her field guide showing the different plumage in first, second, third year and adult spoonbills.
