As a service to our members, the following annotated links to other Florida birding sites is provided. If you can add others, please contact the webmaster Beverly Saltonstall. Thank you.
Bird Patrol -- Bird Patrol is a group of volunteers that goes out monthly to Lee County parks and Conservation 2020 sites to count birds and make that data availableto the properties managers to help them assess the health of the habitats involved.
Florida Ornithological Society (FOS) -- the premier organization for the study of birds in the state.
Great Florida Birding Trail -- The Great Florida Birding Trail (GFBT) is a collection of sites throughout Florida selected for their excellent bird watching or bird education opportunities.
Important Bird Areas of Florida -- The Important Bird Areas program was created in the 1980s to identify, protect, and manage those areas most critical for bird conservation. Florida has quite a few IBAs and you can nominate others by going to this website and filling out a form.
Naples Bird Club -- Founded in 2001, this is a jewel of a local bird club in Collier County. The immediate past President of the Naples Bird Club was Caloosa's own Don Fairbanks. Sadly, Don Fairbanks died Tuesday, February 15th, 2005 at Naples Community Hospital after a lengthy battle from injuries sustained from a fall at his home in Naples. Don will surely be missed! RIP Don. Don's wish was that someone else would now take over the task of being president of the Naples Bird Club. If anyone wishes to do so, contact Peter Thayer (of Thayer Birding Software fame). Peter is the webmaster for the Naples Bird Club.
Purple Martin Society of Collier County -- Collier County has been called the "Purple Martin Capital of Florida." Find out why!
Birds of Sanibel #1 -- Homepage of someone named "Kami" who used to visit Sanibel and take bird photos. The music is very annoying!
Birds of Sanibel #2 -- Photographic bird art by Peter Wallack
Stokes Birds at Home -- Visit with Sanibel's own (at least in Winter!) Don & Lillian Stokes as they share their expertise about birds not only on their "Stokes at Home" television show, but also on the world wide web.
