Directions to STA-5- 2019-2020

Information for both CBC sanctioned STA-5 trips as well as non-sanctioned STA-5 trips run by the Hendry-Glades Audubon Society are posted here.

FOR ALL STA-5 Trips (See below for additional information about non-CBC trips)

In order to attend the Stormwater Treatment Area-5 trips , you MUST REGISTER with the trip chair.   You must also sign and date a liability release form  for STA-5 on the day of the trip.  The forms will be available the morning of the trip.

NEW DIRECTIONS (USE FOR 2019-2020 SEASON):

Directions;. Google STA5 and scroll down and look at the Map for STA5. No longer go to the Deerfence Rd Entrance.  Go to the old entrance.

From Immokalee, follow the same route to Deerfence Rd.,  846 East to 833 south to 835 north. Continue on 835 past Deerfence Rd. follow to Blumberg Rd., and turn right.  Follow Blumberg till it splits off to the right, which is a gravel road.  There is a Birding  Trail Sign there.  That road leads you to the entrance to STA-5.  Another way to go from Ft Myers, is to take Rt 80 east to Labelle, continue to Clewiston. Stay straight, 80 joins 27. Just outside and east of Clewiston, turn right on 835, follow Birding Trail Signs.  835 is Evercane Rd.  Follow to Blumberg and turn left. Follow to split and stay right onto a gravel road that leads to the STA-5 entrance. We will carpool from there.  Bring your lunch and water.  There are porta potties there.  So far , there are NO plans to meet at Mcdees in Immokalee or Clewiston.  Also no plans for lunch after STA-5 trip.  We will discuss this further at Sunday’s meeting. CBC Potluck at Wa-ke Hatchee Rec. Park on Bass Rd. 1 PM   This STA-5 entrance will add 30-40 minutes to everyone. OLD DIRECTIONS:

For all STA-5 trips, unless told otherwise, meet at the McDonald’s, on Route 29 South and  North 15th Street in Immokalee, FL., between 7:00 am and 7:15 am.  Please don’t be late as we will not wait for stragglers.  General and detailed maps are below.

Reminders: Bring sunscreen, water, lunch/snacks. A spotting scope is very helpful and if you have walkie-talkie’s bringing them would be helpful. Wear hats and closed-toe shoes. Tour-participants must stay on the levee. We are allowed to drive around the levee. There is a port-o-let on site.

Lunch is on your own.  There are no local places to obtain food.
