It is with sadness that news has come that long time CBC member Zaida Aponte passed away on July 8th at the age of 96. Zaida was in Hospice for 2 weeks and died peacefully.
Zaida was very active with the bird club and was a member since 1996. She lead a bird trip in March 2006 to Puerto Rico that several members went on. They had a leader from Field Guides, but Zaida also took us to other sites and introduced us to wonderful food. On this trip we also met her lovely niece, Fran Cole.
Zaida also had several bird trips that stopped at her home in Cape Coral as she had a Red Ringed Parrot that was a frequent visitor to her feeders in her very bird friendly yard.
She also did the job of selling the club merchandise and was the Sunshine Committee for many years sending cards to those who were ill, etc
Zaida was a true lady and will be missed.
The service will be Saturday September 3 (Labor Day weekend) at 11am at
St. Katherine Drexel Church in Cape Coral (1922 SW 20th Ave.).
